QUALIFYING:
Tipton's Race Recap: "Great race with an edge of the seat finish. Tim Lathom finished 2nd by a hair .007 behind race winner Scott Healy. Michael Politis gave one of his best finishes of the season coming in 6th. Brad Herman had a solid finish in 7th and hopefully earned enough points to keep him alive in the playoffs. Robert Norfleet stayed strong throughout the race and finished 12th. Brian McEvoy came in a 14th ensuring that GearUp Racing all came in Top 15. That's a strong showing on a tough track. Let's keep the momentum rolling into next week at Iowa."
No 79 - Brian McEvoy
"Survival night for me was the game plan heading in to this one. My luck on Superspeedways and the draft has not been great. Started the race in 14th and held my position for the first run of the race. We pitted on lap 49 and and had a solid stop and game out in 12th and settled in there for the second run. For our second green flag stop I lost the draft exiting the pits and settled in with a pack of lapped down cars in 14th. The caution flew on lap 107 and bunched the field back up. From there is was a wrestling match to finish. I managed to hold my own and bring the car home clean in 14th. Happy to survive and move on to Iowa where I had a strong run last year. Great team effort tonight by the GearUp Apparel team. As always, thanks to GearUp Apparel , Franklin Motorsports and Latham-Grafix for their support. As always thanks to Tipton for being our eye in the sky again tonight."
No 6 - Michael Politis
"We gathered a pretty good finish tonight, I tried to stay out everybody's way but somehow kept finding my self in the front of the pack. I stayed out because I had pitted so late on the second stint, tires were only a few laps old however I ended up holding up the inside line on the second to last restart. Everyone raced me with a lot of patience tonight and I'm happy we were all able to finish in one piece. Tipton Keeping us in line he has been phenomenal all year. We still trying to figure a couple things out but we seem to be headed into the right direction. We hope for the best at Iowa but you never know with racing! Thank you to the Premium Members for their loyal support!"
No 5 - Timothy Latham
"Fantastic run for me tonight. I'm just ecstatic to get a good finish at a superspeedway. Everyone did a great job keeping it clean at the end. My race was pretty uneventful at the beginning. We got a little bit behind after the first pit stops and we were able to push back up to the lead pack from 6 seconds back before the 2nd green flag stop. Did some slicing and dicing after a late caution and took the lead. A couple late race cautions later and the two Yellow Stripe boys jumped up in front of me. I had just enough room to clear the 43 into 3 and assumed the lead for a brief moment but ultimately got loose from a push going through the quad-oval and lost the race by 7 thousandths of a second. And congrats to Scott on the well-deserved win. Thanks to everyone at GearUp Apparel and Tipton for keeping us informed tonight."
